Thomas P. Farrell, Ph.D. is a materials chemist and scientific consultant with expertise in applied R&D, coatings, formulation, and materials problem-solving. He founded Defiant Materials LLC as a platform for technical consulting and innovation in advanced materials. His background combines deep scientific training with industrial experience relevant to aerospace and manufacturing environments.

His doctoral research at UCLA, conducted under Richard B. Kaner in collaboration with Eric M. V. Hoek, produced three issued U.S. patents in polymer membrane technology. In industry, he developed and qualified a radiation-curable coating formulation to aerospace specification BAC 4555, carrying it from initial development through production-scale qualification.
